What to expect at your appointment

Microneedling is a safe, natural, holistic alternative for non-invasive skin rejuvenation treatments.

The eDermaStamp® by Dermaroller® causes minimally invasive precision micro-injuries of the epidermis and dermis, without causing open wounds or ablative damage.

When it comes to minimally invasive treatments, Microneedling Collagen Induction therapy with the Dermaroller® is clinically proven and is perhaps the most successful treatment available for the common signs and symptoms of aging such as wrinkles, loss of skin volume, and crepey skin. The Dermaroller® micro-needling treatment is even proven to minimize scars and stretch marks. Dermaroller® therapy triggers the body’s spontaneous healing process, stimulating cell proliferation and causing the formation of new collagen. This results in a thicker, more supple, cellular matrix. Results: visibly younger looking skin.

  • Treatment

Dermaroller®’s surgical-grade micro-needles reach beyond the epidermis into the dermis, causing pin-point bleeding and triggering the body’s spontaneous healing response.

  • Healing Cascade

Within minutes, the perforation channels close and the healing cascade starts, invading the area with collagen-producing fibroblasts and growth-promoting properties.

  • Younger Looking Skin

New organized collagen & elastin forms, bolstering from within, while the epidermis becomes thicker and more supple, each time a treatment is performed.

Before & After Treatment

What are the pre-care instructions?

  • Discontinue use of products containing active ingredients (ie. Salicylic acid, AHA, Retinoids, Benzoyl Peroxide, Vitamin C)  and any exfoliating or abrasive treatments 7 days prior to your treatment (ie. scrubs, cleansing brushes)
  • Avoid excessive sun exposure 5-7 days prior to your treatment
  • Avoid hair removal procedures in the treatment area (ie. electrolysis, waxing, depilatory creams, laser hair removal, shaving) 5-7 days prior to your treatment
  • Avoid having any other skin treatments on the area for 2-4 weeks prior to your treatment (ex. botox, fillers)
  • Avoid consumption of alcohol and blood thinners (ie: Advil, Tylenol, Midol, anti-inflammatory medications, Coumadin, Warfarin, Xarelto, Pradaxa, fish oil, flax seed, vitamin E, omega 3’s) 48 hours prior to your treatment
  • Ensure you do not have significant active acne, as microneedling can spread acne bacteria
  • To ensure optimal results and healing, it’s highly recommended that you are eating a well balanced diet, staying hydrated, and getting quality sleep weeks leading up to your treatment
  • Ensure you are not currently pregnant or breastfeeding

What are the post-care instructions?

  • Your skin may be red and flushed for 48-72 hours like a mild sunburn
  • You may experience inflammation, redness, itching, sensitive skin, and possible breakouts for the following 1-7 days
  • Your skin may for the next 72 hours feel tight & dry. If peeling happens this is part of the cellular turnover, do not pick your skin
  • You may experience some swelling in certain areas such as around the eyes for the following 1-3 days
  • Do not touch your face for a minimum of 4 hours following the treatment
  • It is recommended to avoid sweaty exercise for 24-48 hrs. This prevents bacteria from entering into the skin
  • Avoid sun exposure for 3 days following the treatment. Wear hats or large sunglasses
  • Avoid washing your face the night after the treatment
  • Ensure you’re using a clean/new pillow case and face towel following your treatment
  • Ensure your glasses and any other items that touch your skin are sanitized before usage
  • Wash your face the next day with a gentle cleanser, apply the HA serum given, a gentle moisturizer can be applied after 24hrs, and sunscreen with at least 30+ SPF and broad spectrum protection
  • Avoid wearing makeup for at least 24-48 hrs following your treatment and ensure your makeup tools are all clean and sanitized when using
  • Avoid applying any skincare products containing active ingredients for 7 days following the treatment. Always test a small patch area to make sure no irritation
  • Purging (developing breakouts) is common after some treatments, as impurities are brought to the surface of the skin

Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect during my treatment?

The treatment begins with a thorough cleanse of the skin with a gentle cleanser followed by an application of a topical numbing cream for 20 minutes. When the microneedling begins, a sterile hyaluronic acid is applied to help the eDermaStamp® glide over your skin. The intensive hyaluronic acid will also nourish the skin and boost the healing process. During the collagen induction process, the tiny needles will penetrate through the skin creating micro-lesions which trigger the production of your own growth factors resulting in collagen production.

How many treatments will I need?

Treatments and results can vary depending on skin conditions. We typically recommend between 3-6 sessions for optimal results. Maintenance treatments 2-3 times per year are also beneficial in maintaining your results.

What type of preconditioning is required?

The treatment requires no preconditioning of the skin prior to treatment. Clients who use Accutane must stop usage  prior to treatment. All exfoliating agents such as hydroquinone, retinol and glycolic acid must be stopped 7 daysprior to treatment.

How long does it take to see results from hair loss treatment?

Noticeable improvements in hair growth and thickness are observed within three to six months of starting treatment, but individual responses may vary. However, the timeline for results can vary depending on the treatment method and individual factors.

Is there an age requirement?

Clients range between 13-75 years old. Those with a health condition or concern should consult with their physician prior to scheduling a peel treatment.

What does microneedling feel like?

The treatment is tolerable because the skin is numbed prior to starting. You may experience some discomfort depending on your pain tolerance. The needling itself typically feels like a slight vibration and tingle on the skin. You may experience a wind-burn or sun-burn sensation on the skin immediately after the treatment.

Do I need downtime for this treatment?

Downtime is minimal with microneedling but does differ from person to person. The treated area(s) may feel similar to a mild sunburn and may be slightly pink to red in colour for the first 24-48 hours. You should avoid working out, hot showers, massages and sun exposure for 48 hours post treatment.

How long does it take to see results?

Results are not immediate. The healing process is completed only after 5-6 weeks post treatment. The most noticeable results are 1-3 months after the last session. Results are not permanent as we cannot stop the aging process. Individual results may vary.

Can I wear makeup post-treatment?

Clients should avoid the use of make-up and at home products in the first 48 hours post treatment. You will be provided with a post treatment kit to ensure proper healing is achieved.
